My Laundry Question

I have a comforter that i need to clean. it has a faint, circular stain. unfortunately the tag doesn't have any instructions about how to clean it. it says that the filler is made of 20% cotton and 80% polyester and the top part is 100% polyester. the top part is made of thin material that is sort of intentionally prewrinkled and seems kind of fragile. is this something that needs to be dry cleaned or can i wash it at home? if it can be washed at home should i use cold water? can it go in the dryer? (i'm not great at laundry in general in case you can't tell!) thanks!

No problem! I'm glad to know the comforter fabric content. Since it is made of all washable material, it can be washed at home. Here is the big question, how large is your washer? If it is not large enough to hold a comforter, you should go to a laundromat. Front-load machines have a larger capacity and are more gentle on clothes since there is no center agitator.

If you don't want to head to a laundromat, you can wash it in your bathtub. You should use cold or cool water and a regular detergent. It can be placed in the dryer but on a low heat. I would tumble dry it for 10 minutes or so and then take it out to finish by air-drying. If you don't have a clothesline, drape it over a folding rack or even hang it over the shower rod.

    Good luck!
