My Laundry Question

Oops, I washed a black cotton ribbed muscle shirt with my towels, it is covered in lint, how do I get rid of the lint without damaging the shirt

Share a Little Background Info

Not a stain, I washed my sons tee shirt in with my towels accidentally. It is covered in lint. I hung the shirt up to dry instead of putting it in the dryer. I was afraid if I put it in the dryer It would make the matter worse.

Lessons Learned

  • I have not tried anything yet because I do not want to make matters worse.

Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

This one is simple to solve. Fill your sink or a plastic container with cool water and 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar. Completely submerge the shirt and swish around for several minutes. The vinegar will soften the fibers and remove any detergent build-up that is helping the lint cling to the fabric. Rinse well and hang to dry or tumble on medium heat in the dryer. The lint should come right off.

If you don't want to hand wash, just add some white distilled vinegar to the rinse water the next time you wash the shirt. Good luck!
