My Laundry Question
I washed a pink blouse with a pair of new jeans. I have stains on the shirt, can I get the stains out and how. Thank You.
Share a Little Background InfoRather than sort my laundry carefully, I washed dark and light clothes together in the same wash load. My pink blouse ended up with stains from the blue jeans. How do I remove those stains without ruining the blouse?
- Don't mix dark and light colors in the same wash load.
Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry, says:
Dye transfer to other clothing can easily happen with blue jeans especially if they are new. To remove the dye transfer from your pink blouse, mix a solution of lukewarm water and oxygen-based bleach (OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach ) according to the package directions. Use enough water so that your blouse can be completely submerged. Allow the blouse to soak for 24 hours. Remove the blouse and check to see if the dye transfer is gone. If not, repeat the process.
If the dye stains are gone, launder the blouse as usual. Remember, it is always best to sort dark and light colored clothing into separate loads to prevent this type of color transfer.
