My Laundry Question
Do you need the vent hose first in order to use the dryer or can you dry your clothes without it hooked to your dryer?
Share a Little Background Info
I just brought my washer and dryer. I never had one in my house before. My previous apartment always had laundry facilities on site, so I never needed one. I moved into my townhouse and just brought a washer and a electric dryer, so I am unsure on how it works. The place where i brought it from came in and hooked it up and I thought it was ok. But I see this aluminum hose in the laundry room and didn't know what it is use for so I called back the store that I brought it from and they said I needed a vent hose. I have no idea on what that was. They told me they don't install them, I have to buy them from a hardware store. I thought they should have told me that before, but any way. I just want to know is it safe to run my dryer with out it or do I need it in order to run my dryer?
- I haven't tried any thing I just need to know what to do in this situation. I am unsureand where do i need to go in order to get this tube?

Congratulations on having your first washer and dryer. You do need a dryer vent that is connected to an outside vent. A rigid dryer vent hose is the recommended piece of equipment because it is the safest. The aluminum hose you found is no longer recommended which may be why the store would not use it for installation. You can purchase the rigid vent hose at any hardware or home improvement store.
If you use your dryer without the vent hose connected, you will be blowing lint and moist air all over your townhouse. This can cause mold and mildew and will increase your air conditioning costs. Good luck!
