My Laundry Question
ALL WHITE Jacket - turned yellow.
Lining - 100% WHITE NYLON - is now dark shades of yellow.
Outside Shell (poly+cotton) is now yellow.
What DETERGENT will make it all white?

Label - "DO NOT BLEACH."
ALL WHITE JACKET - hanging in closet for approx. 13yrs. has turned yellow.
Lining - ALL WHITE NYLON.
Outside - ALL WHITE (poly+cotton).
- About 5yrs. ago, washed w/Tide and a little bleach. Placed in closet.
Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)
ALL WHITE JACKET.
Shell - 65% polyester, 35% cotton. Lining - 100% nylon.
Filling - 100% polyester.

To whiten your polyester jacket, you do need bleach. But NEVER CHLORINE BLEACH. Chlorine bleach can actually turn polyester fibers yellow by removing the outer coating of color. I have an article available on how to whiten yellowed fabrics.
