My Laundry Question
I purchased a bar of Zote laundry soap - how do I use it in my washing machine for a load of clothes? Also - does this product eliminate the chemicals in sleepwear that makes them non-flamable?
Share a Little Background Info
no stain - just a question - does Zote soap eliminate the chemicals found in non-flamable fabrics - I am looking for a solution to eliminate this chemical from sleepwear. I would appreciate any information that you can share with me about how to get out the chemicals - I do like the idea of these chemicals in girls nightgowns. I know the idea behind this is to be flame retardent for safety reasons - but I don't want these chemicals against my daughters sensitive skin
- I think these questions are not relavent to my situation .
Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:
Zote is a bar soap that can be combined with other laundry products to make an excellent laundry detergent. It can be used for handwashing or as a pretreater for some stains. It cannot be used easily alone in a washer.
If you wish to remove or lessen the fire-retardant chemicals, the garment should be washed at least 50 times with soap or detergent. Also, many natural fiber garments are not treated - it is mainly man-made fibers that are treated with chemicals to slow the flammability of the fabric.
