I do not know what caused the stain.I think it may be a drink maybe tea or coffee or chocolate drink. The item is a long cardigan which is an oyster colour and the marks are down the front.I realy do not know what else to say except it's a shame to throw away as it's a very expensive garment.
- I have washed on a hand wash in washing machine but the marks are still there.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:
The easiest way to remove stains from your washable cashmere (especially a stain that you really can't identify) is to mix a solution of oxygen-based bleach (OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach) and cool water. Follow the package directions as to how much product per gallon of water. Completely submerge the garment and allow it to soak for at least eight hours. Check the stain. If it is gone, wash as usual. If it remains, mix a fresh solution and repeat. It may take several soakings to remove the stain but it should come out.
