My Laundry Question
How can I remove greasy stains from solid colored cotton pillowcases without getting faded spots? The washing instructions specify cold water.
Share a Little Background Info
It didn't happen yet...the bed linens are brand new... but I have had the problem in the past because of hair pomade (my husband uses a generous amount) and other grooming products. Solid colored sheets and pillowcases don't hide anything the way a pattern might.
- In the past, I have used shampoo or Shout aerosol spray. They both work well on clothing, but they tend to leave faded spots on solid colored cotton bed linens.

You are using the correct methods for removing greasy hair product stains. My best advice to prevent fading is to not allow the stain removal products to sit on the fabric too long before washing.
It may also be the products themselves who are fading the linens. If any product contains hydrogen peroxide or other bleaching agents, they will change the color of the linens. Even our own natural body oils can change the color of fabric. I would suggest buying several sets of pillowcases and changing and washing them often. Rotate the pillowcases to prevent overfading of just one set.
