How to Remove Set In Chocolate Stains from Clothes

Submit an Entry: Your Laundry Questions and Answers

By Randy Ritchie

My Laundry Question

How can I remove chocolate stains from cloths that just came out of the dryer?

Share a Little Background Info

A chocolate bar was left in a shirt pocket, washed and then dryed before the stain was noticed. All the stain solutions listed on the internet was before drying. The whole load of clothes is spotted with the chocolate stains and way too many spots to perform the rubbing the stain with spot remover. Is there any quick fix

Lessons Learned

  • check clothes pockets before washing.

Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

Unfortunately, each and every chocolate stain must removed following the guidelines for removing chocolate stains. The heat of the dryer has set the stains and now you must use some elbow grease and patience to get them out. And, you may have to repeat the treatment several times.

It's a tough lesson to learn but I'll bet you never forget to check the pockets every time before doing laundry!

Good luck!
