My Laundry Question

How does one remove the odor of Kerosene from fleece garments or from denim garments?

Share a Little Background Info

When attempting to add fuel to my outside K-1 tank I spilled it on my fleece vest and on my denim pant leg. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Lessons Learned

  • I tried washing the garments in Pine Sol and Tide detergent but the odor remains.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

To remove the odor of any type of fuel oil, fill your washer with water and add 1 cup baking soda. Add your washable clothes and allow to soak 30 minutes or even overnight. Add detergent and wash as usual. This should take care of the problem.

Good luck!
