My Laundry Question
I splashed hand cream on Pendleton wool skirt. How can the stain be removed?
Share a Little Background Info
I splashed hand cream on wool skirt from a dispenser on counter. I wiped excess with paper towel. I then used
a Tide stain remover pencil as directed. It did not
remove the stain. The skirt is a Pendleton 100% wool
material.
Lessons Learned
- I used Tide pencil to remove. Not successful.
Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)
100% wool skirt by Pendleton.
Mary Marlowe Leverette, Laundry Guide, says:
Since the skirt is 100 percent wool and probably lined with an acetate lining, you should take it to a dry cleaner as soon as possible. Right now, use a white towel (paper is fine) and dampen the area well with water. Tide Stain Remover pens are not the best for wool - especially if it is a darker color. You may actually have some color change to the fabric. By "flooding" with water, you will lessen the effects of the hydrogen peroxide in the Tide Stain Remover pen.
In the future, just use a blunt edged knife or letter opener to remove the visible lotion and wipe the area with a water-dampened towel until you can get it to the dry cleaner.
All the best....and I love Pendleton!
