My Laundry Question

How can I get the bleeding bergundy color out of the material???

Share a Little Background Info

I just finished a cross stitch project that has a lot of bergundy thread in it. When I washd it to get it ready to frame, the bergundy color ran onto the material. I washed it by hand in cold water and Woollitee.

Lessons Learned

  • I haven't tried anything yet. I don't want to make it worse by trying the wrong thing.

Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)

Cotton Aida cloth

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

To remove the color that has bled,

Mix a solution of oxygen-based bleach (OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach) and cool water. Follow the package directions as to how much product per gallon of water. Completely submerge the piece and allow it to soak for at least eight hours. Check the stain. If it is gone, rinse in clear water. If it remains, mix a fresh solution and repeat. It may take several soakings to remove the stain but it should come out.

Good luck!
