My Laundry Question

Blue sports bra bled onto swimsuit top underneath when it got wet. How can I get blue out of swimsuit? Swimsuit is orange and white.

Share a Little Background Info

My daughter go a new blue rayon sports bra to wear over her orange and white swimsuit to go rafting. Everything got wet - sports bra with swimsuit underneath. Now swimsuit has blue on it. I tried washing it in cold water after we got home. It had dried on the way home. It didn't come out. What can I do?

Lessons Learned

  • Washed it in cold water and stain is still there.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

To remove the color bleeding, mix a solution of oxygen-based bleach (OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach) and cool water. Follow the package directions as to how much product per gallon of water. Completely submerge the garment and allow it to soak for at least eight hours. Check the stain. If it is gone, wash as usual. If it remains, mix a fresh solution and repeat. It may take several soakings to remove the stain but it should come out.

Good luck!
