My Laundry Question
How can I remove dark stains from a straw bag which has dark stains on it?
Share a Little Background Info
Other colors from the bag have bled onto the lighter color making the lighter color darker than it initially was before the darker stain went on the color that was initially lighter. Thus the lighter original color has now become darker in places where it used to be lighter
Lessons Learned
- Tried cleaning with warm soapy water at first, then I thought using bleach but haven't done it yet because I found I could get a quicker solution from the internet which I am having trouble finding the words to describe what i have done and also using the amount of characters that I need to use to find a solution to fixing the said problem, being that I have a stain on a straw bag ,but only in the lighter parts which have become darker because of the said stain,I don't know what to do anymore

Mary Marlowe Leverette, Laundry Guide, says:
Dye stains can be difficult to remove but I do not recommend using chlorine bleach because it can weaken natural fibers and cause the straw to break. Instead, attempt to remove the dye with hydrogen peroxide, a much milder bleach. Dip a cotton swab (Q-tip) in the peroxide and apply directly to the darkened areas you want to bleach. Give the peroxide time to work and then dry. You may need to repeat several times. Change to a fresh cotton swab each time to prevent the dye you're removing from redepositing on the straw.
If this does not work, you could consider dyeing the entire bag using Rit dye. You will just need to go a darker color.
Good luck!
