How to Add Fragrance to Homemade Laundry Detergent

My Laundry Question

How can I add a fragrance to my laundry detergent powder? I've read to add drops of essential oil, but not sure how many drops and where to put them (in the dry mixture, or directly in the wash water?)

I also read that I could add 1/2 Tbs of Dr. Bonners Liquid Castile soap (rose, lavender, etc.) directly to the wash water, but that product is expensive and would really add to the overall cost of homemade detergent.

I don't have anything to write here, but it won't let me submit the question unless I type at least 200 characters in this box. Weird. If you could respond to the question above, that is all I really need. Thank you.

  • Oi, this box too needs characters...................................................................

Sorry about the form, it is the only template About.com gives us for answering reader questions.

To add fragrance to your homemade detergent, add the essential oil directly to the powder. Start with one or two drops and mix in well. If you like more scent, add more but just a couple of drops at a time!

Good luck!
