My Laundry Question

My dad washed my brand new t-shirt which is white, and I took it out and there was blue stains on one arm pit and on one sleeve as well, how can i sort this out?

Share a Little Background Info

It happened when my dad put my brand new t-shirt in wash with a load of dark clothes. Now I have blue stains on the white t-shirt. How can I remove the stains without ruining the new shirt? The shirt is brand new and I want it to look good.

Lessons Learned

  • Never let my dad do my washing. I'll do my own in future.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, Laundry Guide, says:

Accidents happen and this is a chance for you to teach Dad how to handle laundry correctly. To remove the dye transfer stains, fill a sink with cool water. Add 1/4 cup oxygen-based bleach (OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach ) and mix well. Submerge your t-shirt and allow it to soak for 24 hours. If you don't want to tie up a sink that long, use a plastic bucket. Then wash your t-shirt as usual. If the stains remain, repeat the process and do not put the shirt in the dryer until the stains are gone.
