Dry Cleaning Accordion Pleated Skirts

My Laundry Question

Help! My dry cleaner pressed all the accordion pleats out of my skirt! The lines of the pleats can still be seen. I'm not sure of the fabric because the dry cleaner still has it. Should I insist that they iron the pleats back in? Will wetting the skirt or heating it help? The brand is Trina Turk.

Thank you!

Share a Little Background Info

No stains at issue in this particular skirt. I'm just going to keep typing until the 200 character-limit error message goes away. No stains at issue in this particular skirt. I'm just going to keep typing until the 200 character-limit error message goes away.

Lessons Learned

  • none yet! The dry cleaner has handled this skirt many times, and I've never had a problem until now

Fabric Content of Item (if appropriate)

I don't know, but I can find out.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, About.com Laundry & Laundry Rooms, says:

You should require the dry cleaner to restore the pleats. With the cleaning and pressing equipment the company has available, it can be done - especially if the same cleaner has pressed the skirt correctly in the past. Ask to speak to the manager/owner. The desk clerk probably doesn't have a great deal of fabric knowledge or experience.

If you don't get satisfaction, report the cleaner to the Better Business Bureau.

Good luck!
