My Laundry Question
All my face cloths have a light gray circle on them when I launder them. No matter what I do bleach or washing with hot water...nothing works. I do not understand because this only happens with our face cloths.
Share a Little Background Info
The gray circles just appear after several uses. I have tried bleaching them and washing with hot water. I cannot get the gray stains out. What should I do and do you know what is causing the stains to appear?
Lessons Learned
- I haven't found anything that works.

Mary Marlowe Leverette, Laundry Guide, says:
Since the gray circles are only appearing on your face cloths and not other bath linens, I think the circles are caused by the type of soap - particularly body wash or liquid soap - that you are using. Certain brands, especially "natural" soaps, react with some types of water and leave a residue on the face cloth.
I know you have tried bleach and washing in hot water and you're on the right track. Unfortunately, each time you use them after washing the gray stains are going to reappear. You can try scrubbing the stains with a paste of powdered detergent and a bit of water. You can boil the face cloths in a pot of water to help remove the residue but it is going to reappear the next time you use the soap.
If a change of bath/face soap is not a possibility, you will probably want to switch to a dark colored cloth.
