High efficiency washers use less water during the wash and rinse cycle and require a low-sudsing detergent. Wisk, a long time laundry detergent from Sun Products, has added Wisk 2X Ultra HE detergent to its line.
The detergent is concentrated and has a low-sudsing formula that includes biodegradable surfactants to release and bind dirt away from clothing, brightening agents and colorants to help protect clothing colors and a water softener to allow the detergent to work more efficiently. There is perfume and dye in the formula which may be a problem for those with sensitive skin.
I found Wisk HE to perform well in removing medium to heavy soil. The laundry has a pleasant - not too perfumed - clean odor. Wish HE can also be used as a stain remover by applying directly to the stained areas and rubbing in.
My only complaint is with the measuring cap. The lines marking suggested amounts to use for different sized loads are nearly impossible to see. As with all detergents, check those carefully to prevent using too much detergent.
