Guide Review - Robby Wash Washing Ball - Laundry Product Review

The Robby Wash washer ball promotes itself as replacing 75 pounds of traditional laundry detergent or enough to do one year of laundry. Manufactured in France and distributed in the U.S. by Oransi, Robby Wash is a hypoallergenic laundry detergent ball containing 10 ounces of macro-molecules that clean clothing. The cleaning pellets are composed of Sodium lauryl, Sodium percarbonate, Sodium sulfate, Pentanedione, Polyethylene glycol, Stearic acid, Polydimethylsiloxane, Sodium carbonate and water.

Each vented ball is made of durable ABS materials. The pellets are poured inside through a small stoppered opening. Refill pellets can be purchased allowing the ball to be used for two to three years. There are two types: the blue Robby Wash ball can be used in either cold water or hot water while the fuchsia Robby Ball is formulated for use in cool water. I tested the fuchsia model while my son tested the blue ball.

We both found that the Robby Wash ball does a good job of cleaning a regular load of laundry. My son has a compact washer/dryer model and he is particularly pleased with performance. I have a larger capacity washer and found cleaning capabilities lessened in large loads. The recommended laundry load size for optimum performance is 10 pounds. My clothes came out clean, smelling fresh and soft to the touch. We have only used the balls for one month so I cannot say if they will last one year, replacing 75 pounds of detergent. But I will say that I can see no "melting" of the pellets. It is guaranteed for 12 months of washing.

The washing ball is chlorine and phosphate free. By replacing containers of laundry detergent, it is environmentally friendly. The ball, designed to last for one year, sells for $32.95 with free shipping on orders over $75.00. A free stain removal stick is included in each box.

I'm a single Mom of two that lost their job late last year - and the hardest part of making changes - was getting my grocery bill down. I used to use All Free & Clear - but at almost $6 a bottle - and I used two bottles a month ($144+ a year) - I just couldn't afford it anymore. I switched the the grocery store's brand - but that only brought it down to $4 a bottle (smaller bottle). Then I saw on a frugal Mom blog ways to cut your grocery bill - and it mentioned Robby Wash. One ball would bring my detergent bill down to $2.75 per month ($32.95 per year = one ball). So desperate, I tried it. It's actually worked really great for the past several weeks. (But like the review says - because it's new I haven't gone a full year yet) My clothes are clean, I've tried the stain stick that is free with it - works better than my old $4.59 bottle of Shout. Both my colors and my whites smell good, are light and fluffy - but no heavy scent. I have also used on my little one's cloth diapers - works great.
