After the introduction of color-safe bleach to Tide powder in 1988, P&G offered the first liquid detergent with color-safe bleach - Tide with Bleach Alternative.
Again, following it's lead with compacted powdered detergent, P&G introduced Ultra Liquid Tide in 1992. By removing some water, plastic packaging was reduced and Tide became less expensive to transport due to lighter weights on trucks.
