Guide Review - Purex Complete 3-in-1 with Repel Stain Blocker - Laundry Product Review
Purex launched Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets in May 2009. I gave them a try and wrote my guide review giving them 4.5 stars. Not too shabby, but now Purex offers a new formula Complete 3-in-1 with Repel Stain Blocker and new packaging.
Safe to use in all washers - regular and high efficient (he)- the product is a sheet that holds concentrated detergent with the Repel Stain Blocker that dissolves during the wash cycle to clean clothes. The sheet is then transferred to the dryer where the yellow stripe at the top of the sheet provides fabric softening and anti-static in the dryer.
In my earlier review, my two complaints were about the plastic container that used no post consumer recycled plastic and the lack of a product ingredient listing. The folks at Purex (owned by Henkel) responded by offering new cardboard packaging that can be recycled and a list of ingredients:
Because of the ingredients used for softening, this product should not be used on children's sleepwear or any flame resistant fabrics. You may also have spotting caused by the softener.
I tested the new formula and found that it works very well at removing everyday laundry soil. Difficult stains must be pretreated prior to washing for successful removal. I cannot say that after using the product that our clothes repel all dirt and stains but time will tell!
If using the sheets in a front-loading washer, place the sheet in a washable mesh bags. The sheets can slip between the inner wash drum and the outer drum causing blockages and preventing the washer from draining properly.
The product is still very simple to use and comparable in price to using detergent and fabric softener and a dryer sheet in each laundry load. It comes in three formulas, Tropical Escape, Spring Oasis and Pure & Clean.
