By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Bleach is an additive which aids detergents in the removal of soil and stains. Through a process of oxidation, bleach changes the soil into soluble particles which can more easily be washed away helping to whiten and brighten washable fabrics.

There are two types of bleach

  • Chlorine bleach (common household bleach or sodium hypochlorite)
  • Oxygen bleach (all fabric bleach)
  • You can read reviews of top rated detergents with bleach at ConsumerSearch .
