Laundry Games for Kids Teach Laundry Skills

Shapes

Start with a clean dishtowel or wash cloth and ask your child to fold it. Show her how to turn a square into a smaller square, a square into a triangle or a rectangle into a square.

Colors

Ask your child to sort dirty laundry into piles of dark and light colors. You may need to sort a bit deeper before washing but every little bit help. As you fold clean clothes, ask her to identify the color of each garment and match all the like-colored items.

Matching

Take that pile of socks and show your child how to find matching pairs – by color, design or size.

Big or Little?

Ask your child to sort kid clothes from adult items. Which ones are big? Which ones are little?
