Fun crafts for Halloween straight from the laundry room.
Laundry Basket Costume
Most of us have an old laundry basket that can be sacrificed for an easy and inexpensive Halloween costume. First, cut a hole in the bottom of the basket large enough for your child’s body to fit through. Attach twin strings or straps to act as suspenders to hold the basket up. Dress your child in a sweat suit or leotard, depending on the weather, slip on the basket and fill it with clothes and an empty detergent bottle and dryer sheets. Trick or Treating is truly a time to air the dirty laundry!Detergent Bottle Jack O’Lanterns
The orange liquid detergent bottles make perfect jack o’lantern decorations. Completely remove the paper labels and use a permanent marker to draw on a happy or scary face. You can also use craft foam shapes to form the face. The caps can be spray-painted green or brown. Fill the bottles with pebbles or a bit of sand to keep them from blowing away if using outside. Don’t restrict yourself to only orange containers – let your imagination go wild. Some bottles can become blue monster faces or green scarecrows or even a yellow smiley face.
