Guide Review - Dryel In-Dryer Cleaning - About.com Laundry Guide Review - Home Dry Cleaning Kit
When Dryel hit the market in the late 1990s, it was introduced as an in-home dry cleaning system for all of your dry clean only clothes. As the years have gone by, fashion has changed both in trends and fabrics. Now Dryel is suggesting that you use the in-dryer kit to clean dark clothes like jeans and delicate knit clothes.
Manufacted by OneCare Co.,the starter kit comes with a reusable fabric protection bag, 2 cleaning cloths and a stain remover pen. Cleaning cloths are available in 6-pack refills and the Dryel On the Go stain pen can also be purchased separately. The cleaning bag included in the kit can be used up to 25 times.

For dry clean only fabrics, stains should be pretreated. The clothes are then placed in the fabric protection bag with one of the moist cleaning cloths. The bag is closed and placed in the dryer on medium heat for 30 minutes. The bag and cleaning cloth create a steam environment that removes odors and loosens wrinkles. The clothes are slightly damp when removed from the bag and should be hung to air dry after removing from the bag. Jackets or slacks with crisp edges may need to be ironed.
For clothes that can be washed but you'd rather protect them from fading or shrinking, the Dryel cleaning clothes can be used directly in the dryer with the clothes. Tumble on medium heat for 15 minutes and then hang to finish drying. Again, you will need to treat any stains before you put the clothes in the dryer.
I gave the kit a test using both methods. I had a white boiled wool jacket that had a muddy paw print on the sleeve. Using the stain remover pen and a cleaning cloth in the bag, the jacket came out looking great. I've also used Dryel directly in the dryer with my best dark jeans. They still look great.
Dryel is great for in-home cleaning and is less expensive and more convenient than a trip to the dry cleaner.
