According to the packaging, the detergent is formulated to work well in cold water. I used it for several loads of laundry and found the clothes to come out clean from normal soil and smelling fresh with just a light scent. However, they did not work well on stains. I followed directions and pretreated the stains (blood and salad dressing) in two different loads with a bit of detergent and allowed them to soak for about 30 minutes. But, after washing I had to treat again with a different stain remover and rewash.

Seventh Generation products are widely available in grocery and mass merchandise stores. They can also be ordered online. Cost per use is higher than most commercially-produced detergents.
