Guide Review - BerryPlus Laundry Detergent - Laundry Guide Review
Just when I think I've seen the most unique packaging of green detergents - Vaska, Method - here comes BerryPlus to top them all. The product is offered in a compact package holding plastic vials of one-half teaspoon - or a microdose - of the soap. The outer package is made of 80 percent corn-based Plastarch Material (PSM) bio-resin. The vials are made from a recyclable single plastic, polypropylene (plastic no.5).
The product is available in 2, 10, 20, vial packs. Packages of 40, 60 and 100 are contained in neat, little cotton bags that can hook onto your belt or your laundry basket. Each vial does one load and costs around 45 cents per load (plus shipping costs).
I wish I could say that the product performs as well as it looks. While BerryPlus laundry came out smelling fresh, almost all of the stains remained even after following the directions to use a drop or two directly on the stains. It did not remove heavy soil, blood or oily stains. Rewashing with another product defeats any green benefit. I would recommend using an enzyme-based pretreater on any stains before washing with Berry Plus.
Distribution of BerryPlus is limited, so to purchase you can use their online store.
