Guide Review - Bounce Dryer Bar - Bounce Dryer Bar Product Review
One of Procter & Gamble's latest laundry products is Bounce Dryer Bar, a fabric softener bar. Available in two scents, Outdoor Fresh and Fresh Linen; each is offered in sizes that last two months or four months. All are readily available in retail stores and online.
Bounce Dryer Bar was awarded a silver 2010 Edison Award for innovation in household products. While in-dryer bars have been used in industrial laundry situations for several years, this is the first dryer bar available for home use.
The starter Bounce Dryer Bar comes with a refillable plastic holder that sticks to the side of your dryer with sticky tape. The bar of solid fabric softener slides into the holder and is activated by the heat in your dryer and slowly melts away. The bar will last approximately 2 or 4 months depending on frequency of use and the temperature settings used. When the bar is nearly gone, the word "REPLACE" appears to remind you to remove the old bar and slide in a refill.
Package instructions tell you to remove the paper backing on the holder, and press firmly onto the dryer drum. If your dryer has internal fins, do not attach there. Reviews have reported problems with the holder coming loose. If you are a frequent user of dryer sheets, your dryer drum probably has an oily film on the drum. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol first and allow it to dry before attaching the holder to insure good adherence.
Some users have had trouble with the dryer bar breaking or coming out of the holder. I would suggest turning all clothing inside out and fastening all buttons and zippers to prevent snags that could break the bar. It will also prevent streaking on dark clothes.
The dryer bar should be removed when drying children's sleepwear or other garments labeled as flame resistant. I am not a fan of most fabric softeners due to the highly perfumed scents, and Bounce is highly scented. However, it is convenient for the user and does soften clothing well. Consumers should weigh the convenience against cost per use versus other fabric softening methods.
The package ingredient list states that Bounce contains inert carrier, biodegradable cationic softeners and perfume. The complete list of products can be found online.
