I did not know this. I know you should not pour fabric softener onto the clothes themselves, but I did not realize the dryer sheets etc could cause spotting.

The dryer cloths cause problems if the dryer is overloaded and they can’t move about freely. Fortunately, you can usually get the spots off by pretreating and rewashing your clothes…..Still a time and energy waster!

I have a new washer and an old dryer. The dryer was serviced recently and found to be ok. I quit using dryer sheets and now use the dryer balls (which don’t work either), and I still am getting “grease” spots on my clothing out of the dryer. What is it?

If your dryer has been serviced and found with no problems, the stains are probably on the clothes before washing. After drying the oily areas become more prominent. Carefully inspect and pretreat all stains before washing.
