Laundry Stain Removal Saturday: Company Quiche

Saturday July 31, 2010

As you read this blog post, I'm serving this quiche to company; hence the name. I think you'll enjoy it and I hope they do as well. You can adjust the ingredients to suit your tastes: substitute spinach for the broccoli; add mushrooms; leave out the bacon or use cooked sausage or ham. Customize to your tastes and if you spill, just follow the links to remove the stains.

Company Quiche

  • Crust
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 2 cups cooked couscous, cooled
  • 1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Filling
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup half and half cream
  • 4 cups blanched broccoli florets
  • 3 strips crispy bacon, crumbled
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 Roma tomato, diced
  • 2 green onions, diced
  • In a small bowl, whisk egg and seasoning salt. Add couscous and cheese and stir until blended. Press into the bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-inch deep dish pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 5 minutes. In a large bowl, whisk eggs for filling with cream. Stir in broccoli, bacon, 1 cup cheese and nutmeg. Pour into crust. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Sprinkle with tomato and onion and 1/4 cheese. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes longer. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. Serves 6.
