Removing Pet Urine from Clothing

Cat or dog urine is one of the odors that is immediately distinctive. I've read all type of theories on why our pets mark areas and choose their spots to urinate. But, if I didn't know better, I think it's their way of letting us know that they are mad at us and in charge. But whatever the reason, getting rid of cat and dog urine stains and odor is always a top priority.

The rare times my dog or cats have peed on clothing, rugs, etc…..usually the smell comes out of the clothing in the washer…

My typical combination is:

Detergent (liquid, HE type, low sudsing)
Non-chlorine bleach (essentially, hydrogen peroxide with some colorant and surfactants..
White Distilled Vinegar in the fabric softener cup (or dump in a half-cup when you hear the rinse cycle running)

Now, if only I could rip out my bedroom carpet, and throw it in the washer/dryer whenever it gets peed on lol….

Thanks for your tip. I had the carpet problem and that’s why I switched to hardwood floors with washable rugs!
